Dr. Laura Edwards-Leeper, PhD, is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in working with gender diverse and transgender children, ADOLESCENTS and adults.
She works with clients through her private practice near Portland, Oregon. Dr. Edwards-Leeper is Professor Emerita of the School of Graduate Psychology at Pacific University in Hillsboro, Oregon. She was a member of the American Psychological Association Task Force that developed practice guidelines for working with transgender individuals. She was the past Chair of the Child and Adolescent Committee for the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and was involved in the WPATH Standards of Care (SOC) 8 revision. She is an ally to the LGBTQ community and is considered an international expert in this field.

This 2-day training will provide in-depth information on how to work with transgender and gender diverse (TGD) youth in a balanced, affirming-exploratory manner. The focus will be on mental health therapy and assessment. The second day, in particular, will dive into the important topics that should be addressed when assessing gender dysphoric youth seeking medical interventions. The information provided will be consistent with the World Professional Association’s Standards of Care – Version 8, but the focus will go beyond what is available in the WPATH document.
